The idea

The idea is to use any PC headset with  electrect capsule on the IC-7000. A veces lo usamos en lugares en los que es incomodo operar con micro de mano o hemos encontrado unos auriculares muy baratos y nos apetece probar. Sometimes we use it in places where they operation is uncomfortable with hand micro or have found headphones very cheap and we want to test ir or your stock mike is not working. So you need an emergency sollution.

Con este pequeño accesorio podremos utilizar cualquier microcasco de ordenador o generico con microfono electret. With this small accessory we can use any computer or generic headset with electret microphone. No le he añadido el PTT aunque seria muy sencilla esa posibilidad. I have not added the PTT but this is very simple. En este caso he preferido utilizar el vox del IC-7000. In this case I preferred to use the vox of the IC-7000.

Lets have a look to the original Mic connector

Of these pins, we are only interested in the following 3:

1.- Salida de 8 V por la que alimentaremos el micro electrec 1 .- Exit 8 V by which feed the electrec

5.- Masa del micrófono 5 .-  Microphone ground

6.- La señal del micrófono. 6 .- The signal from the Microphone.

Estas patillas han de ir a las siguientes patas del conector macho del micrófono. These pins are going to the following point of the male connector to the microphone.

Why must we connect it in this way?

Los micrófonos de ordenador tienen tres patillas en un conector Jack de 3 pines, como el del dibujo. The computer microphones have three pins in a 3-pin connector jack, like the drawing.

La conexión mas sencilla es la masa, esta es la parte del micro que esta mas alejado de la punta a esta zona se le llama "SLEEVE". The most easy connection is the  ground, this is the part of micro that this is farthest from the tip. This area is called "sleeves".

La alimentación del micrófono entra por la patilla intermedia que se llama "RING" ( anillo en ingles) The power for the microphone enters by the intermediate pin wich is called "Ring"

La señal del micrófono viene por la patilla de la punta, también llamada "TIP" The signal from the microphone comes down the pin of the tip, also known as "TIP"

The electrolytic capacitor is used to adjust the signal from micro to the frequencies of your voice. y la resistencia entre la patilla 1 y el anillo se utiliza para limitar un poco la alimentación del micrófono.  En la foto vemos como hemos conectado todo sobre el mismo conector del micrófono. and the resistance between the ring and pin 1 is used to limit somewhat the power of the microphone. The picture we see as we have connected all over the same connector to the microphone. Hay unas patillas que no usaremos por ahora (Se podría incorporar un PTT). There are some pins that we will not use for now (You could incorporate a PTT). Como cable para el micro he usado un trozo de latiguillo Ethernet. As cable to the microphone he used a piece of Ethernet cable.

And in the next picture we see it finished and ready for use.

Results

Una vez terminado , he estado haciendo contactos con unos auriculares NGS y un precio de 10 euros. Once finished, I have been making contacts with a 10 euros. PC headphones. En todos los casos los controles de audio han sido fantásticos, he realizado contactos con 37 países en 10 días y en la mayoría de los casos me han comentado el buen audio de mi señal. El coste total del invento es de unos 3 euros, siendo lo mas caro la cajita de plástico y con el ahora podríamos utilizar una gama muy amplia de microauriculares.  Y todo ello con un rato de experimentación y entretenimiento.
